3D Motion Graphics - Impossible Cube (2008)

Escher's Inspiration - Impossible Cube (2008)
Software Used: Autodesk Inventor, 3Dsmax, Maya, After Effect
Description: This 3D animation is about Esher's impossible cube. I tried to bring out the concept of impossible cube through a 3D board game kind of style in monochrome. I used monochrome rather than colorful because i don't want the 3D board game too stand out untill the audience focus more on the board game rather than the impossible cube. The motion graphic starts with a dice fall on the cube then explode, and the "game" begins with buildings poping out. Then the train gonna go through 3 cities in the board game which are Tokyo, Italy and Paris. When the train reaches the end of the broken path, the chair in the train turns into an impossible cube as a key to move the camera angle so that the game path can be combined and turns into a complete board game with the shape og impossible cube. At last, the stairs pop out so that the "player" can go "down" to the other game path which suppose to be same height.
